Description
This is a random feature request from a happy offlineimap user. :-)
I use offlineimap to backup my gmail account to a local Maildir, which is great.
However, I somewhat cringe at the thought of having to restore Maildir->gmail (e.g., if Google ever accidentally deletes my account) because I have a dozen or two gmail labels. offlineimap puts the messages in these labels in different maildir folders (vs. gmail having one copy of a given message with multiple labels attached). If I ever used offlineimap to restore Maildir->gmail, I'm guessing that a single message that originally had N labels attached to it would effectively be duplicated at Gmail N times (is that right?).
So my feature request is for the special repository type "Gmail" to understand the label system at Google e able to do something like this:
- Use offlineimap to download gmail account A->local Maildir
- Use offlineimap to upload local Maildir->gmail account B
- And then have gmail accounts A and B be exactly the same, both in terms of the mails in gmail's "All mail" and the labels applied to each mail
Is this possible?
Thanks!
